Polo Revival
We kicked off the season in January with the William Cameron Forbes Cup. The exciting opener was the best way for athletes to show off their regained momentum in the sport, and get families together again. Not only were they pleased with the events that had taken place, but had also found other activities to do within the Club – chatting up old friends, trying new dishes, and making use of our refurbished facilities, to name a few. The Polo Season is everyone’s chance to return to their second home and relive old traditions, and that’s why Members can’t seem to get enough.
January also hosted the Chairman’s Cup, sponsored by Manila Standard. Here are the list of athletes who emerged victorious in the tournament:
Aside from the game, Mambers and guests stayed entertained with a Parade of Cars, and the Kid’s Costume Parade. To cap off the month, the PGA Cars-sponsored Enrique Zobel Cup featured a car parade and display of Audi and Porsche at the Rotunda, Trophy Car with the Zobel Family and a magnificent fireworks display on top of exciting matches. Here are our winners:
February might have felt short, but did not fall short of eventfulness and exhilaration for the Polo Season. We held the Past Presidents’ Cup, in honor of the Club’s Past Presidents and the President’s Cup sponsored by the US Polo Association, in honor of the Club’s President, Ms. Christina Bautista. The Board of Trustees was in full attendance to show their support for her during this cup. See the list of winners below:
Meanwhile, Members were thrilled to witness the unity of Filipino and Korean culture in the Korea Polo Cup. Sponsored by the Korea Polo Club, this set of games not only kept our multinational audience off their seats, but also introduced them to each other’s cultures and traditions in a night-time mixer. We recognize those who won in this tournament:
We are capping off this quarter strongly with March Madness. The Israel Ministry of Tourism sponsored its self-named Cup, which welcomed our Israeli friends with open arms. The series of matches represented togetherness, which was celebrated at the end with another marvelous fireworks display.
Members also enjoyed yet another car and fireworks display after the High Goal Game at the Journal Cup, sponsored by the People’s Journal and People’s Journal Tonight.
The Standard Cup closed 2023’s Polo Season, with a series of competitions, where even Argentinian players participated in. After the match, kids did not fall short of entertainment as they paraded in fancy costumes, and even had a chance to participate in their own unicycle polo game. The event ended with the Parade of Food where Members and guests indulged in in-house kitchen specialties and artisan cocktails. see the list of winners below:
