If there is one thing that Manila Polo Club champions, it’s our ability to bring people together through all types of physical activities. From competitive sports, to the endless lineup of fitness classes, Members have enjoyed the opportunities to meet new people and reunite with friends and family, all while keeping their health in check.
This time around, The Manila Polo Club Fitness Lab happily announces that they will be incorporating Pilates classes into their activity roster. Led by US-certified pilates instructor, Paolo Villaroel, Members can now enjoy a challenging low impact exercise method that offers the following benefits: aligns the body, and strengthens the core. As MPC continues to raise awareness for the importance of health and fitness, we sat down with Paolo himself to dig deeper on the benefits of pilates, and how people of all ages and genders can take part in the effort.
Can you please share with us the wonders of Pilates, and what sets it apart from other fitness programs?
Pilates is a core based exercise that helps improve posture, strength, flexibility, balance, coordination. And makes your body have a lean and longer look.
Is there a specific age group of people who can try pilates? Do they have to be athletic, or flexible?
Anyone can do pilates from young to old, no specific age group and any fitness level. It can also help in rehabilitation of injuries and sports performance.
As the first US certified pilates instructor in the Philippines, how do you increase the awareness of this fitness model?
As one of the first US certified trainer, I used to promote it thru tv talk shows , seminars and other wellness and fitness venues.
Was it always your plan to come up with a Fitness Lab dedicated to it?
Since I teach and train different forms of fitness exercises, Fitness Lab was made. It is a holistic fitness studio that tailor fits your fitness program by combining different forms of exercises depending on the clients fitness or wellness goals. It gives you more of a personal touch and experience.
Paolo’s Fitness Lab is located at the Pelota building, and is available for scheduled classes from 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM.
