Issue 2: From the GM

18 June 2021

Dear Members,

We are about to enter the second half of 2021 and despite the pandemic still far from being over, it has been an eventful half-year: the government’s vaccination rollout has picked up pace; after a few weeks under MECQ, we have now reverted to GCQ, and the Club has resumed operations of most sports and recreational facilities in compliance with IATF and Makati LGU guidelines. Underpinning all of these is a renewed hope and confidence that things are steadily improving and inching their way towards normality, or at least, some semblance of it.

As always, the East Terrace, the East Field, and the Cogon Village remain popular with our Members. COVID-19 has made us rediscover the joys of being outdoors with family and loved ones. In this regard, we continue to offer a host of unique dining experiences for all. Our Raclette Night on 10 June was the busiest and most successful wine and cheese night we had. Private Dining by Cibo di Marghi, Signature Caterer also returns for Father’s Day weekend, 19-21 June, an absolute treat for dads and the whole family. As a special treat, we’re giving away complimentary stays at Crimson Resort & Spa Boracay to 3 lucky dads and bottles of Johnnie Walker Blue Label to 5 others who will celebrate with us this weekend.

At the Last Chukker, Father’s Day is a weeklong celebration. From 13-20 June, with a special menu with wine priced at PHP5,450, that serves 3-4 persons, including Summer Salad, Pan-seared Angus Steak with fresh mushroom and herb sauce, and Two-Hands Sexy Beast Cabernet Sauvignon 2019.

Our daily East Terrace Tapas and Mongolian BBQ every weekend are absolute crowd-pleasers. The East Terrace is buzzing with life again, often filled with diners in high spirits, socializing with others from a safe distance.

Check out our Rainy Day Special from now until the end of August, where you get to enjoy all-time merienda classics and popular snacks in collaboration with The Creamery Catering, every weekend at our bahay kubo at the East Terrace.

You’ll be happy to note that we’ve reinstated the “One Member: One Guest” policy allowing each card-bearing Member to bring one guest into the Club at any one time, for sports or dining. Another significant and welcome development is that Dependents aged below 18 years may now come to the Club for outdoor sports and exercises.

All F&B outlets are now open and operating at 30% capacity, except for East Terrace Outdoor dining, which is now at 50%. Most of our sports facilities are operating at 30% capacity: Archery, Golf Driving Range (GDR), Swimming Pool (except 50m), Softball, Tennis (middle and hard courts), Polo & Equestrian facilities (West Field, Lunging, Big and Small arenas), and the jogging track. We finally reopened Polo Fit two days ago — a long wait but necessary measures had to be taken for a safe and healthy workout.

While Hairwatch will continue to serve Members at the Kiddie Pavilion near the Cogons, the indoor salon is now open at 30% capacity.

Please remember to make use of your consumable credits before they expire. We have extended the validity of Members’ Q2 and Q3 consumable credits to 31 December 2021, as approved by the Board of Directors, while the Q4 consumable credits will expire on 31 December, as usual. This means more reasons for you to visit the Club to take advantage of our dining offers and enjoy our facilities.

I hope to see more of you and your families at the Club, as lockdown regulations ease, and more and more of the population is vaccinated. In the meantime, I urge all of you to continue to stay safe and healthy, and to remember that as your second home, the Club observes the strictest safety and hygiene standards, to create a safe space for all Members, spouses, dependents, guests and staff.

I will take this opportunity to wish all fathers a very Happy Father’s Day!

Truly yours,

NOEL B. BARRAMEDA
General Manager
