It has been more than a year since the country was put on lockdown in an effort to contain the spread of coronavirus. Since we reopened in June 2020, at limited capacity in accordance with IATF directives, the health and safety of the Manila Polo Club community has been of paramount importance.
To adapt to our ever-changing environment, we refine our policies, when needed, to ensure the Club continues to provide safe for you, your families and guests, as well as our staff. We have put Polo Pass, a stringent but convenient contact tracing system in place; we have also implemented strict guidelines regarding access to and use of our dining, leisure and sports facilities so that the mandated physical distancing is observed, all equipment is rigorously sanitized, and everyone has their face masks on, except when it is logically impossible, such as when eating or drinking.
We have also made good use of the wonderful expanse of open space that we have in the polo fields and the East Terrace. This has proven to be increasingly popular with Members and their families, who have been taking advantage of the great weather to walk and jog on the track, as well as drink and dine on the East Terrace, where we have set up safely spaced tables. The Cogon Village remains a good option as well.
To encourage more Members to come to the Club, we have also been offering new dining experiences. Earlier this year, we launched the successful Private Dining by Cibo di Marghi nights on the East Terrace, which featured the cuisine of the one and only Chef Margarita Fores, who was named Asia’s Best Female Chef in 2016. For Chinese New Year, we served up Dimsum treats. And more recently, we introduced Back to Basics with Bacchus, a hearty steak and wine set dinner menu, every Thursday.
We also celebrated Easter virtually this year with an exciting Minecraft tournament and an online virtual egg hunt in an MPC Easter Wonderland, which was a big hit among kids and parents alike. We look forward to having you join more of our virtual events in the future.
We thank you, our dear Members, for keeping your accounts up-to-date. Even when the government restricts everyone’s movements during the various levels of community quarantine, in effect limiting your access to the Club, we continue to do maintenance works so that the Club is in tip top shape, and ready for your return anytime.
We are also carrying out scheduled upgrade of various facilities throughout the Club, including the 50m pool. We briefly closed the Gold Driving Range (GDR) and the Sports Lounge for the installation of new roofing. We are also excited as we prepare for the eagerly anticipated rehabilitation of the jogging track.
Please stay safe and healthy. See you at the Club!
Truly yours,
NOEL B. BARRAMEDA
