Earth Day 2022: The Sustainability Committee and the Management are thrilled to share the following updates to its initiatives to #InvestInOurPlanet:
RECOVER: Topsoil from organic waste! Shout-out to our compost warriors RAMIL LA TORRE and MANUEL EDEM! Under their diligent care and maintenance, the Club’s 11 compost pits have yielded regular harvests of nutrient-rich topsoil in keeping the Club’s grounds lush.
RECYCLE: Trash talk! To further promote proper waste disposal and segregation, as of 24 March 2022, the Club deployed new and strategically-located trash bins – blue for recyclables with the first stop at the Club’s Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), and gray for all other trash.
REDUCE AND REUSE: Goodbye single-use plastic! Towards encouraging the switch from single-use to multiple-use, effective 15 July 2022, single-use plastic bags will no longer be made available at the Ladies’ and Men’s Locker Rooms. Reusable bags will be for sale in the locker rooms for a limited period.
ROCKING IT: As of 4 May 2022, 1,260 kilos of compost harvest has been utilized for the playground. Come second week of May, the Sustainability Committee is looking to harvest 2,772 kilos / 32 sacks of compost output from 11 working pits. The compost pits have significantly lowered the Club’s waste and landfill contribution by 25%!
