Issue 5: From the GM

31 December 2021

Dear Members,

With the decline of COVID-19 infections over the past few months, more Members have been coming back to the Club. Food outlets and sports facilities have been busier, making the Club more alive than it has ever been since the pandemic started.

As we prepare to usher in 2022, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Members for a successful Halloween event. Our kids exercised their creativity and sense of adventure as they navigated the virtual world via this year’s theme: Fang-tastic Halloween, staged on the Minecraft application. We are slowly bringing back some of our on-site activities while still meeting the Club’s safety protocols, and you can be rest assured that we will continue to follow the same guidelines as we look forward to bringing you more events in the coming year.

While we were still unable to hold our usual Pre-Christmas Cocktails, we had an intimate yet warm Christmas tree-lighting ceremony with the Board of Directors. More recently, we celebrated Thanksgiving at MPC with a Carving Night special at the East Terrace, featuring juicy roast turkey with delicious trimmings prepared by Cibo di Marghi. So popular were the roasts that we extended our turkey-carving for two more days!

We have also recently concluded some of our virtual events from the Diamond Committee – Let’s Talk  S.A.D. (Stress, Anxiety and Depression), a timely webinar about the impact of stress, anxiety, and depression on our mental health due to the COVID-19 crisis, and the practical approaches that can be done to make our tasks easier and realistic while navigating the new normal way of life; and the Hail!!! Adeste Fideles, a Christmas Musical Concert produced by Past President Eddie Yap.

Indeed, we have so much to be thankful for, despite the challenges of the past twenty-one months.  We are filled with hope for the upcoming new year as restrictions ease up and people are beginning to meet up again with greater freedom. The thought of families and friends finally feeling safe enough – thanks to the vaccines and boosters – to gather together to celebrate the festive season, fills us with joy.  We hope that the Club will be part of your celebrations with loved ones once again.

Our Christmas Eve Private Dining at the East Terrace was enjoyed by our members, with the special performance by the Good Shepherd’s Voices of Saint John Bosco Church Makati Choir. For New Year’s Eve, we are preparing another installment of our popular Private Dining at the East Terrace to welcome the new year.

Certainly, with the promise of a return to normalcy, we are looking forward to easing our way towards full operations, with Members of all ages, their spouses, dependents, and their guests enjoying all the Club outlets and facilities, socializing with their fellow Members, and reveling in being back at their second home.

Speaking of a return to normal, it is with much excitement that we announce the resumption of the Polo & Equestrian Season in 2022. The much awaited event opens with the Past President’s Cup at the East Field on Sunday, 9 January 2022. The coming Polo & Equestrian Season promises to bring Sundays of outdoor fun for our members and their family.

We thank you for your continued support as we remain at your service. Stay safe and see you at the Club!

Truly yours,

NOEL B. BARRAMEDA
General Manager
