Issue 4: From the GM

8 October 2021

Dear Members,

We are now into the second of the “ber” months, and on Alert Level 4.  We approach the final quarter of 2021 with a new Board of Directors, a majority-vaccinated staff, and a good measure of hope and optimism for the holiday season and the year to come.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our Proprietary Members for participating in last August’s Annual General Membership Meeting.  For the second year in a row, the elections were conducted virtually and resulted in the successful election of a new roster of directors – Dir. Christina Bautista, Dir. Barbee Chuidian, Dir. John de Jesus and Dir. Raffy Garcia, who join Pres Robert Trota, Dir. Gus Montilla, Dir Angeline Feichter, Dir Bobby Lim and Dir Bernie Vergara to form the MPC Board of Directors for Board Year 2021-2022. They bring with them enthusiasm and commitment, not to mention their expertise in their different fields.

The pandemic is not over, and we continue to face challenges, but we are more than ever determined to work together to continue keeping the Club a safe space for you and your families as we welcome you back once again.  The Club is again allowing each card-carrying Member, Spouse, or Dependent to bring in a guest. This time, however, only fully vaccinated guests are allowed entry into the Club. Indoor service at The Last Chukker, Hairwatch salon and PoloFit gym is also available only to fully vaccinated Members, and only fully vaccinated staff are serving. I encourage our fully vaccinated Members to register with our Membership Affairs Office for a hassle-free entry to these indoor facilities.

Integral to ensuring an atmosphere of safety and security. I am pleased to report that to date, 95 out of 96 MPC employees have been vaccinated, alongside 403 out of 417 other personnel, which include contracted service staff, concessionaire staff, trainers, ball boys and others; a total of 97% vaccination rate among our employees and other personnel. About 35% of which received their first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine at the Club as part of our vaccination programme for the entire team that serve our members directly and indirectly. Those who received their first shot at the Club will also receive their second dose at the Club in November.

This is no time to drop our defenses, so to speak; we remain vigilant about the threat of COVID variants, and urge everyone to continue to wear face masks, especially when indoors, to wash their hands frequently, and observe social distancing.  These measures continue to be our best defense against COVID, whether one is vaccinated or not.

We take pleasure, nevertheless, in being able to be with family and friends, and it has been wonderful to see you all back at the Club.

Truly yours,

NOEL B. BARRAMEDA
General Manager
