The Backstory
Catherine’s Cakes & Pies began as an accident. My wife wanted to try out an English walnut pie recipe she got from the internet but when she baked it, it didn’t come out as expected. I have some experience in baking since I have assisted my sister when we were kids, so I tested a few things and the trial version came out better, but we were still not satisfied. Then it became a friendly rivalry between us two to see who can make it better by changing the recipe here and there. My wife also made some out-of-box suggestions. After about half a year of experimentation, we came up with a walnut pie that we were happy with. We started to let friends and relatives try it and they liked it. In fact, some started ordering immediately.
In 2012, we registered the company with the DTI as Catherine’s Cakes & Pies. We acquired more ovens and refrigerators and hired additional bakers as well. Right now, we have a staff of about 8 but we add a few more during the Christmas season. Our main presence online is in Facebook and Instagram.
We named the company after our youngest daughter.
The Company’s Vision
Our vision for Catherine’s is to supply to more establishments like restaurants, coffee shops and stores in Metro Manila and possibly, nationwide.
